    Exclusive SEWN Pattern

Try your hand at English Paper Piecing this month with this pattern, exclusively for SEWN from Sue Daley of Patchwork With Busy Fingers and Australian Quilters Companion

Paper piecing is one of the oldest forms of patchwork. It involves stitching fabric over papers and then whipstitching the shapes together. This helps with accuracy, and makes piecing difficult blocks with a lot of pieces and scary bias such much easier! Paper piecing makes a great carry along project for those long afternoons watching school sport too.

Have a look at Sue's website for great tools to complete this project, such as her straw needles, which none of my sewing kits are ever without! They are great for applique as well as piecing, and would be perfect to use in conjunction with Erica's Hand Piecing article as well.

Download this free pattern to make a lovely table running using paper pieced hexagons.

Make sure you enter the competition to win one of three of Sue's Playing with Paper packs! Just click here or go to the competition page and tell us why you would like to try English Paper Piecing. Competition drawn on Monday, July 6 at 4pm AEST.
